About My Bodywork
I do therapeutic bodywork that helps you feel better, helps your body to get back to correct alignment but also helps you restore better movement! It also relieves pain! BUT, what I do is MULTI-DIMENSIONAL. Besides just the physical body, I can help you heal yourself by using your own inherent awareness. That is the BEST WAY for you to truly heal yourself! I use physical assessment techniques but also my own intuition to find the best procedures to help your start your own healing process.
Reducing your pain always comes 1st, then you and I can look deeper at the whole body.
The bodywork I do deeply focuses on holistic techniques: pain relief, structural re-alignment as well as the emotional aspect of being human. This includes how we compensate due to injury and trauma. I’ve learned to embrace all levels of what a client brings to me. My acceptance and willingness to be present with a client’s condition helps them to feel safe – and this allows them to heal themselves from within.
To be effective in the long term, bodywork has to focus on 2 main aspects: 1] the entire body; 2] fascia. The body is an integrated structure that needs skilled therapeutic work to look at the entire network! For example, a sore neck can be caused by an imbalance in the lower back. Treating your entire body has to incorporate working with fascia. Fascia is the all pervasive connective tissue that is everywhere in the body!
If you have any of the following issues, I have successfully treat them:
- pain;
- stress;
- body misalignment;
- postural irregularity.
Get in touch with me and we can do a session so you can see the results!
About
Tom pettengill
Born in Cincinnati Ohio, I moved to the wilds of Big Sur in the 70’s and, at the tender age of 24, found the freedom to express myself and develop self identity and spiritual awareness. After that, I had the auspicious opportunity to move to the spiritual community of Mt. Madonna Center – where I became a founding member.
There, my responsibilities were as diverse as the weather: organic garden manager, fireman, water system operator, financial reconciler, security officer, HR rep, herbalist – AND bodyworker.
Two important passions of my life are:
1) doing therapeutic bodywork;
2) collecting herbs at 9,000′ in the Sierras [since 1998].
